FOURTH HOUSE

11 - Aquarius.png

HEMISPHERE:

NORTHERN:
Northern hemisphere dominants have a strong attachment towards personal resources and their sense of identity. They have a need to feel secure in themselves before they venture out into the world. Having strong foundations within the home/roots aids these peoples journey of self-discovery. Whilst home is comfortable, it is advised for northern hemisphere people to branch out of their comfort zone and not become a homebody.

WESTERN:
Western dominant people gain satisfaction in life through their relationships with others. Community and personal relationships are of great value, and it is understood that ‘no man is an island’. These people have a deep understanding of the nuances of relationships and are great mediators. Connecting with others is where western dominant people learn the most about themselves. However, their need for connection warns of ending up in toxic/stifling relationships - and advises them to hone in any people-pleasing behaviours.

SECOND QUADRANT:
In the second quadrant we learn about what gives us pleasure, what our talents are and what our body needs to be taken care of. People with lots of planets/activity in this section are self-directed, although open and receptive to others.

ABOUT THE HEMISPHERES

The hemispheres in astrology break the birth chart down into four sections. However, contrary to how we commonly see hemispheres, in astrology these are seen as ‘backwards’. This is because in a birth chart the hemispheres are viewed from the viewpoint of the ‘heavens’ (think North Pole). Therefore, North would equate to South and vice-versa; and West becomes East, East becomes West. The hemispheres speak on whether someone/a situation is of a more introverted/extroverted nature and whether the motivations are rooted in fulfilling an individual or others.

ABOUT THE QUADRANTS

A birth chart is split evenly into four, each section compromised of three houses, these sections are called quadrants. Quadrants in a birth chart represent the four stages of development during a lifetime. The first quadrant, (from ASC to IC) represents our youth; the second (IC to DC) represents our young adulthood or teenage years; the third (DC to MC) is our adulthood; and the fourth (MC back to ASC) represents our old age and maturity.
